About the Conference

In 2015, the United Nations launched a series of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at transforming our world while calling upon all nations to act—ensuring economic prosperity while protecting the planet. These goals address economic growth, education, health, social protection, employment opportunities, climate change, and environmental sustainability.

As an ancient tradition with more than 2,500 years of history, Buddhism must embrace modern strategies to continue benefiting the contemporary world. Buddhism plays a vital role in Goal 3: ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages. Thus, the future development of Buddhism must align with the SDGs, reflecting their deeply interconnected relationship.

With 2030—the target year of the SDGs—approaching, this is a timely moment to assess our progress and share best practices that can help the global Buddhist ecosystem stay aligned with sustainable development efforts worldwide.
